How to Size Your Solar System in Pakistan
1. Calculate Your Load
Select the appliances you want to run. A typical 1-ton inverter AC consumes about 1100W, while non-inverter models consume more. A standard home with 2 ACs, a fridge, and basic lighting usually requires a 5kW to 10kW system.
2. Choose Your Inverter Type
On-Grid (Tie) inverters are cheapest and best for net metering, but shut down during load shedding. Hybrid inverters cost more and require batteries but provide backup during power outages. Popular brands in Pakistan include Huawei, Growatt, Solis, and Knox.
3. Panel Selection (Tier 1)
Always opt for Tier 1 solar panels (e.g., Longi, Jinko, Canadian Solar, Trina). Most modern panels are N-Type TOPCon and range from 550W to 600W+ per panel. High wattage panels require less mounting space on your roof.
